What do I wear?
Sunday morning services are casual or business casual. Activities and events other than worship are very relaxed and casually dressed. Come just as you are.
What about the children?
St. Andrew's worship services are family-friendly. All are ages are welcome to worship, and we take great care in introducing new members to our classes. Children who are beginning Faith Growth Hour as a new member are given a special tour of the whole church facility and our teachers are instructed on how to make newcomers feel welcome and part of the group. For more information about Children and Family Ministry, please contact Renee Martin at renee@standrewsa.org.
St. Andrew nursery is open from 8:00am-noon on Sundays and is staffed with qualified caregivers. Children are always welcome at worship services, but if you would like to use our nursery, simply follow the signs out the narthex and down the hall. Cheerfully painted and well stocked with clean toys and good snacks, our nursery is designed for children 3 and under. Remember to sign your child in, and clearly label all of your child’s items so that they can be returned to you. If you have questions regarding our nursery staff or operations, please contact Alison Lanik, Director of the Children’s Learning Center, at 493-9380 or alanik@standrew-elca.org.Children age are invited to join a Children Activity during worship. Children attend opening songs in the sanctuary and are dismissed from worship after a Children's Time with the Pastor.
What do we believe?
We’re Lutheran, affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Check out www.elca.org for more about us. Lutherans still think Martin Luther said it best back in 1517 when he offered these basic principles of theology and practice:
We are saved by the grace of God alone -- not by anything we do;
Our salvation is through faith alone -- we only need to believe that our sins are forgiven for Christ's sake, who died to redeem us;
The Bible is the only norm of doctrine and life -- the only true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.
What does St. Andrew expect of its membership?
To strive to live as followers of Christ by developing and strengthening seven spiritual “muscles” (we call them the Signs of Servanthood): prayer, study, worship, service, inviting others, giving of time and resources and encouragement of others. We don’t expect members to know how to do all these things… our pastors, staff and ministries provide instruction and opportunities for this spiritual strength training.
